To keep your photos timeless, soft, and natural, please avoid:
- Rhinestones, sequins, or sparkly details
- Bright or heavily washed jeans
- Bold prints or large patterns
- Shiny or glossy fabrics
- Tight or uncomfortable clothing
- Clothing with logos or visible branding
- Nylon tights or shiny stockings
- Fitness trackers, smartwatches, or electronic watches
Basic Styling Guidelines
When choosing outfits, focus on:
- A cohesive style across the family
- Compatibility (style, fabric, and warmth should feel balanced)
- Colour harmony
- Texture (matte vs. shiny, smooth vs. textured)
- How pieces complement each other
We aim for simple, comfortable, movement-friendly clothing that allows you to relax and enjoy the session.
Outfits made from natural fabrics (cotton, linen, wool, knitwear, etc.) photograph beautifully. When possible, please avoid synthetic materials.
Solid colours work best. This is especially important for children’s clothing, where prints and glitter are common but can be visually distracting.
Colours & Fabrics
- Choose soft, natural tones: any muted, nature-inspired shades, white, cream, beige, warm grey, oatmeal, soft brown, muted mustard, burgundy, dark green, and similar earthy colours.
- Black can be used sparingly and works well when balanced with lighter tones.
- Be cautious with blue — many shades of blue can reflect poorly on skin tones and appear harsh indoors.
- Matte fabrics photograph much better than shiny ones.
I recommend skipping denim altogether and choosing trousers, skirts, or soft knit pants instead.
We don’t need matching “family outfits.” A coordinated look using no more than two main colours, plus white and/or black if needed, works best.
Shoes & Small Details
You may bring shoes, or we can shoot barefoot.
If barefoot, please avoid socks, as they tend to look distracting in photos 🙂
Keep jewellery minimal and natural, and avoid hair ties or bracelets on wrists.
Collaboration 🤍
I truly appreciate when families take part in the preparation process. Since I feel responsible for the final visual result, I kindly ask you to send photos of all outfit options you’re considering. This allows us to create a cohesive, harmonious look together — and I’m always happy to help and guide you.Thank you!
